the lowdown

This project began with the vision of an entrepreneur who wanted to improve the experience of their restaurant customers. They came to us to help advise them with the definition of the product as well as the design and complete development of the solution.

the challenge

Redy didn’t want to settle on the mobile solution of a digital menu, but rather also wanted to provide an answer to the following questions:

Have you finished your drinks? Well, order another round and add it to the bill.

Do you want to see how the dish you’ve ordered is going? It checks the status in the dishes-ordered section.

Do you want to know how much money you have spent so far on your order? You can see the order total at any time.

Have you finished and want to order the bill? Do it directly from the app without waiting for the waiter to pay attention to you.

the solution

We studied the situation and everything surrounding the user as they use the app. After doing a study on the target user, we drafted a navigational map using wireframes to structure all of the information well and to check whether the navigation and functionality of the app was working correctly and fulfilling all of its purposes. Thanks to this previous work, a lot of details were improved upon that bettered the user experience.

The app was designed for the user as well as for a CMS that allows the waiter to receive instructions. The design was made in a simple graphical direction, appropriate for all audiences and very easy to use. Small details make it visually appealing for the user: striking colors, icons for allergens, backgrounds with food motifs, a personalized receipt, etc. In 2020 a rebranding was carried out, changing the brand from Menudito to Redy but respecting the rest of the graphical direction of the app.

The client needed a technological partner they could trust who could understand their product and start on it from scratch. We developed an MVP by creating two native apps that were simple but could continue to evolve. We achieved this thanks to the pattern of architecture used, clean architecture, which decouples the layers of interface, business logic, and data from one another. This allows for the substitution of any of them in the future without any large impact on the others.

A CMS was created to let waiters view their customers’ requests and hence receive instant feedback on orders. This way, the worker can use a computer, tablet, or iPad to send and receive information on the status of tables, orders, etc. Furthermore, they can also personalize the menu, generate a QR code the user can scan to view the menu, create and edit the menu and its different dishes, etc.

Two landing pages were created, one for customer users and another for waiters. Each one displays the app’s features and the CMS to see the advantages and how they work. The landing page for customers is linked to the Apple and Android app stores so that the app can be downloaded, and the employees’ page has access to the CMS or server in order to log on and get started.

“Highly experienced and talented team. They had mind-blowing honesty and transparency during the entire partnership.”
