LaLiga needed to bring the passion of football straight into users’ living rooms by successfully adapting its mobile and tablet experience to Smart TV platforms. We developed the official LaLiga app for tvOS and Android TV, expanding the competition’s digital ecosystem to the big screen. The platform was built to provide fans with real-time information for every match, high-definition video highlights on demand, and detailed minute-by-minute coverage of every fixture.
challenge
The primary technical and design challenge was completely reimagining the mobile UI/UX architecture to suit a remote-control navigation pattern (the “lean-back” experience). We had to structure massive amounts of live data—statistics, minute-by-minute commentary, key play highlights, and video streaming—without cluttering the interface or sacrificing performance. Furthermore, the app required a robust backend architecture to handle massive concurrent traffic spikes during high-profile matchdays.
solution
We designed and built a native Smart TV application that turns the living room into an interactive sports hub. The app delivers real-time match data, seamless integration of video highlights, and instant minute-by-minute live commentary. With a clean, highly intuitive UI tailored specifically for both Android TV and tvOS, we successfully brought LaLiga’s rich content ecosystem to TV screens worldwide.
